Revisit the excitement: A captivating photography gallery of Tokimeku Opening Event

Photography by David Prentice

The opening event of the Tokimeku exhibition at Malcolm Smith Gallery, Uxbridge Arts Centre on April 20 saw a record turnout, with 150 visitors attending on the first day. I shared how my journey to Tamagawa was transformative, deeply influenced by the wonders of nature and my family connections. The narratives behind the paintings resonate strongly with viewers, enhancing their connection to the artworks.

Yiling Elaine Chen's original contemporary dance, inspired by the Tokimeku collection, featured motifs of birds flapping their wings and movements that mirrored the fluidity of paint on canvas. Her performance was breathtaking and transported the audience. Lizzie Oaks' authentic insights encouraged us to embrace play as a means to nurture creativity. I'm incredibly grateful to all the friends, artists, creatives, and community leaders who supported the event.

Kelly Chen, a talented cinematographer, filmed Elaine's dance and is producing a video that captures the essence of the dance and the Tokimeku collection. We are planning a boutique screening and discussion event to encourage further dialogue on arts and creativity. Stay tuned for more updates!
