HOW TO PLAY HOPSCOTCH was created from an intuitive play without planning and design but simply following my creative impulses. I started with splash and drip of lots of fluid acrylic and ink! Then layers of darker mark making was done with trowel and crayons. The geometrical shapes and lines emerged energetically in the process. I love the contrast of textures and spatial depth. The painting reveals itself to me what it is about - paying homage to our childhood play and those little fun things that bring big smile to us and make our hearts warm and cheery. I named it HOW TO PLAY HOPSCOTCH as it reminded me of an exquisite artwork my fibre artist sister made years ago “HOPSCOTCH* which I love dearly. I want to pay tribute to my sister’s incredible artistic achievement and how her creative journey inspires me!
