Chateau d’Orquevaux Artist Residency, July 2025, France
Three weeks in the serene French countryside during my recent artist residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux opened a world of inspiration—rolling hills, swan-filled lakes, and sunlight dancing across the willow trees and baroque architecture. Here’s a glimpse into my residency journey, from the quaint village, studio moments, daily life and creative exchange with international artists to finished works. If you ever consider attending the residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux or somewhere else, I highly recommend it!
In the Studio
In the residency studio—translating landscapes and emotions into abstract language and visual storytelling. Inspired by the lush, heavenly surroundings, the rich exchange of ideas and artwork collection within the château, my spirit felt buoyant, and the colours turned fantastical.
Open Studio & Works collected
Sharing my final works and process with fellow artists and visitors during Open Studio Day. Heart Glow now part of the Permanent Collection of Château d’Orquevaux, France while Orquevaux Reverie II has found a home in US with fellow residency writer Steve Capone Jr. as an anniversary gift. Shown here in their raw, travel format—soon to be stretched and revealed in their final form.
Life at the Château
The residency would not have been so dynamic without the 25 extraordinary international artists, writers, and filmmakers. The conversations at meals, mountain hikes, field trips, barn fires, dances, open mics, collaborations—the tears and raw exchanges met with full acceptance—were all gifts to cherish for a lifetime. Together, we became more open, more trusting, more believing in ourselves, more in love with life, and more dedicated to our crafts. Love you, my friends, and love you, Château d’Orquevaux!
