Chateau d’Orquevaux Artist Residency, July 2025, France
I’m Coral Noel Yang, an abstract landscape painter based in New Zealand. In July 2025, I attended the Artist & Writer Residency at Château d’Orquevaux in France, where I developed a new body of paintings alongside collaborative work with an Australian theatre performer duo on the Home project. This experience laid the foundation for my proposed residency at Kyoto Art Center 2026, where I aim to further expand these ideas through cross-disciplinary exchange and cultural dialogue.
Each work shown here was born during the residency, accompanied by its sketches and studies that trace the path of its creation.

Looking Ahead
As part of the residency, I collaborated with an Australian theatre duo on Home—a performance-based project exploring belonging and cultural roots. This cross-disciplinary exchange, documented in the accompanying photos, expanded my practice beyond the studio and led me to explore my own heritage and stories to be told with my art. I truly enjoy artist residency and will seek out more international opportunities in the coming days! I will see you there!
