This piece is part of my NZ spring floral series. The particular setting is the idyllic town Warkworth where I lived from 2018 to 2019. I often took walks in the neighbourhood in the morning or at dusk. It is the serenity of this lovely town along with the bountiful nature that inspired me to paint. I love Calla Lilies, their fluid and organic shapes, their graceful cups, and how their spread in the filed or by the valley stream forms the most beautiful pattern and rhythm. Besides capturing the beauty of the shapes I also want to create the visual movement, the deep space and a sense of quiet peace for the soul.
