Twilight Reverie is inspired by one of New Zealand's most iconic and beloved landscapes—Milford Sound. This magical place holds a special place in my heart, evoking cherished memories of a visit with my dear mother a few years ago.
In this piece, I chose a dramatic palette of vibrant ultramarine blues contrasted with highlights of quinacridone orange to convey the mystery and majesty of Milford Sound at twilight. Through the layering of fluid pours with varying viscosities, I sought to capture the unique contours of the mountains and the way mist gently envelops the plains. Emerald greens and magenta pinks were incorporated to convey a sense of drama and depth, adding richness to the scene. The process allowed me to express the awe and wonder this extraordinary location inspires.
