The mist in the background and the shining lily pads in the foreground come together in this piece of deep lush greens. I wanted to capture the night of the pond and its quiet mystery. It's both peaceful and other-worldly. It took me several attempts to create the effects I am satisfied with including first pouring thick fluid paints on canvas, washing them away and then reapplying the layers. I think there's a fortitude in this piece that comes from me continuing to wrestle with the materials until they are yield the result!
